When creating my blueprint my mentor has been assisting me on some of the more realistic parts to building a house. For example, when I created a wall on the computer program he helped me to understand how the wall was built and what types of materials I needed to complete the wall. Then when making walls we took into consideration the space needed for cabinet space in the kitchen so that the wall was a perfect number for Sheetrock. There are a lot of things to consider when drawing a house, like the plumbing because you have to have an insulated wall on the outside so that the pipes do not freeze, and you want to have even walls with your materials so that you don’t have to cut and fit them. This just makes the building part a lot easier.

Working with my mentor has been a learning experience. He has taught me many things as far as the dimensions go. One main thing that I didn’t know is that all doors in a house are not the same size. Doors that are known as regular size are like your entrance and bedroom doors. Doors that are smaller are usually your storage and bathroom doors. Another thing that I have been learning is the height of ceilings and the width of which you want your hallways to be. I didn’t realize all of the different things that make building a house so complicated.
